Reclaiming the Monument Collection

2020, 2021, 2022

The Reclaiming the Monument Collection was birthed out of the civil unrest in Richmond, VA following the murder of George Floyd. Richmond, once the home of the Capitol of the Confederacy, has deep roots tied to racism.

During the many nights of protesting, protestors demanded the removal of the many Confederate soldier statues housed on the historical Monument Ave. Robert E. Lee, a Confederate General, Monument was erected in 1890 and in 2020 the community reclaimed it by tagging it with the names of lost Black lives at the hands of police brutality.

On Wednesday, September 8, 2021 the Lee statue was removed with the base still standing for all to see.

100% of the proceeds from this release went to the Richmond Mutual Aid fund, which is used as a support system to the Richmond community as a response to COVID-19 pandemic and social injustice.
